By Brief as a child’s life is, the joy that the child brings is always out of this world. Whoever said ‘there is no footprint too small to leave its imprint forever on one’s heart’ knew exactly what they were talking about.
On 19th January 2017, nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura and his wife Nelius Mukami were blessed with triplets- 2 boys and a girl. Just as expected, a happy Mwaura broke the news of fatherhood on social media, sharing pictures of him and wife. Unfortunately one of the boys and his baby girl died leaving the family with a huge hospital bill to clear.
The loss of his children was kept under wraps until yesterday when Mwaura wrote the following on his facebook timeline:
“I went ahead to vie for Ruiru parliamentary seat, suffered political violence and eventually lost the election. Some people thought that I was down and out. Others even celebrated!”
“Mukami and I even lost two of our triplets (a boy and a girl) and we were left with only one son and a hospital bill of 11.2 million to clear not forgetting that we were in the middle of party primary campaigns. It was really tough but we kept the faith…”
I can confirm that the loss of a child is never forgotten entirely. Three years down the line, I once in a while remember my little sunshine, but with less pain and more joy- those are what we call the ‘never to be forgotten moments’
Dear Mwaura and Mukami,
Your babies’ life might have been brief but I know they left a permanent footprint in your hearts. I sincerely share your anguish and pain. May God comfort you and give you strength to face the days ahead without these lovely children. You are in my prayers! ((Hugs))
